Memorial plaque for chess players

The Scouts Memorial Plaque in Dunaszerdahely is less well-known than the larger monuments in the city, but it is of great importance to the local Hungarian community and the Scout movement.

Dunaszerdahely plays a special role in the history of Hungarian Scouting in the Highlands, as the Slovak Hungarian Scout Association was re-established here after the change of regime, which made the city one of the centers of the movement.

The memorial plaque commemorates the local Scouts and the traditions of Scouting. Usually, the purpose of such memorial plaques is to preserve the memory of those who worked for the community or who remained faithful to the Scout ideals during difficult periods of history: patriotism, voluntary service and moral education.
