In the October 3, 1915 issue of the Rozsnyói Hiradó we can read the following obituary: "The death of Vendel Branszky. It is with sincere condolences that we announce the death of the respected and generally respected retired mining councilor and ironworks chief councilor, Vendel Branszky, on September 29. During his long tenure in office, he became a citizen of our city whose absence we will feel for a long time. While he was in charge of the treasury mining office, his fine position, which he filled with great professionalism, and when he retired a few years ago, his individual merits secured him our respect and love. For his more than 40 years of service in office, he received the Order of the Iron Crown, 3rd class, from the king upon his retirement, and the trust of our fellow citizens placed him in the chair of the chairman of the Society of Friends. He was chairman of the supervisory board of the Gömör Savings Bank, the Rozsnyói Mining School committee, committee member of the Gömör county government. So he lived an active working life and his death is a great loss to the society of our city. He passed away in the 70th year of his life and the 43rd year of his happiest marriage. His widow, née Irma Cseh, his children and all relatives, as well as the Gömör Savings Bank, issued an obituary on his death. The deceased was escorted to his last journey on Friday, 1st at 4 o'clock in the afternoon, in the presence of an impressive mourning audience. May he rest in peace!"
