The grave of parish priest Miklós Boda

Miklós Boda, parish priest of Felsőszel. * 1873. Jaák (Ják, Vas county). A scion of an ancient noble family. He was ordained a priest in Esztergom in 1898. He was a university student in natural history and geography in Budapest for one year. He worked as a chaplain in Szentmihályfa, Balassagyarmat, Egyházgellé and Tallós. From 1903 he was parish priest of Felsőszel. He was constantly persecuted by the Czechs for refusing to hoist the Czech flag and for having Hungarian patriotic songs sung. During the World War he performed a lasting work in the field of caring for war widows and orphans. He is credited with restoring the church and decorating it with frescoes, building two new schools, purchasing bells and an organ, building a cantor's residence, and organizing teaching positions.
