Statue, monument, memorial plaque

János Bihari was born in Nagyabony on October 21, 1764. He was considered the most significant Hungarian musician and greatest performer of the 19th century. He died on April 26, 1827, and is buried in the Ferencváros Cemetery in Budapest. On September 13, 1964, a memorial plaque with the motto "The song is beautiful, the song is eternal" was unveiled in his native village, on which the following text can be read in Hungarian and Slovak: "János Bihari, composer, gypsy prima, and excellent representative of Hungarian verbunkos music, was born in this village in 1764." The memorial plaque was originally placed on the wall of the old community center, opposite the park, where the Bihari celebration was organized from 1964, and then it was moved when the new community center was built.
