Nativity scene, Sókszelőce
Song
Characters: Nativity Scene, Angel, I. Shepherd, II. Shepherd, Old Shepherd. ; ; The shepherds have winter coats turned inside out. One has a greasy hat, the other a sheepskin hat. One has a mustache (painted) and the other does not. The old man has a large sheepskin coat, hat and beard. In his hand is a long pipe, which he occasionally smokes. The Nativity Scene is in a long shirt, with a blue crepe paper belt around his waist, with a hanging ribbon. On his head is a bishop's hat made of paper, with a cross glued to it in the middle made of shiny blue paper. In his hand he carries a church-shaped nativity scene, illuminated, with a manger with baby Jesus, the Virgin Mary, Saint Joseph, angels, shepherds, oxen, etc. The Angel is dressed like the Nativity Scene, but his belt and the cross on his bishop's hat are red. The shepherds have a chained staff in their hands, and when they sing, they strike it against the ground to create the rhythm. ; ; All: (they come in and sing): ; ;
; ; Christ Jesus is born, let us rejoice. ; Let us sing a song of joy to Him. ; From the blood of David, from the pure womb of a virgin ; Christ is born to us. ; ; The lily of virginity blossomed; And produced the beautiful flower of heaven. ; The gracious little Jesus brought us; Being born, the redemption. ; ; Bethlehem: In Bethlehem of Judah, in the city of David, the little Jesus was born in a stable, wrapped in swaddling clothes. And there were shepherds in that country, keeping watch over their flock by night. Suddenly there was a great light, and an angel of the Lord appeared to them and said: Do not be afraid, shepherds, for I bring you good news: a little child Jesus is born in the city of David! Wrapped in swaddling clothes, and laid in a manger in the outskirts of Bethlehem…. ; ; Bethlehem: (Song) ;
