Miklós Bercsényi visited Érsekújvár several times between 1704 and 1708. The plaque on the wall of the Franciscan monastery, which is one story high, is the work of András Tóth (1858-1929), a sculptor from Debrecen. The plaque was removed after World War I and was returned to its place in 1939.

Between 1704 and 1708, the ardent leader of the Rákóczi War of Independence, Count Miklós Bercsényi, lived within the walls of this monastery on several occasions. In memory of the great war of independence, the grateful public of Érsekújvár erected it out of patriotism in 1904. A. Tóth, Debrecen.
