Balonyi Holy Trinity Statue

The Holy Trinity statue in the Balony churchyard, erected in 1838 by Katalin Mátéfi, depicts the Father, the Son (crucified Jesus) and the Holy Spirit in the form of a dove on top of a column. Another form of this representation, when the Holy Trinity was depicted in a niche of a column, can be found in nearby Csiliznyárad. Holy Trinity statues were often erected in connection with infectious diseases. Cholera devastated the area in 1831.
