Memorial plaque of painter Béla Bacskai in Persé
Statue, monument, memorial plaque
The factory worker from Fülek became a painter, a student of Gyula Szabó, a graduate of the Bratislava Academy of Fine Arts, a painter of Hungarian landscapes and people - the Nógrád Gömör - and he was born and died in Persé. He set up his studio in his parents' house, a characteristic long farmhouse, where he created most of his paintings - primarily watercolors - and graphics. The hall of the local community center is decorated with his monumental mural. After his early death, the idea of marking the building of his birth house and studio with a memorial plaque and building a memorial house arose. The black marble memorial plaque was unveiled by the local government in 1995, and the construction of the memorial house is in progress. His grave in Bacskai is marked by a head statue in the Pers cemetery. The wreath-laying of the grave and the memorial plaque is part of the traditional Bacskai Memorial Day, which is organized annually by the local government and the Nógrád Regional Committee of the Csemads.
