Memorial plaque of painter Béla Bacskai

On the occasion of the 20th anniversary of his death, in November 2000, a memorial plaque to the painter Béla Bacskai was unveiled on the wall of the local cultural center. Mayor Zoltán Fodor had already initiated the placement of the marble plaque earlier, on the occasion of the tenth anniversary of his death. They would have received state support for it, but their plan did not succeed. "At that time, the Ministry of Culture approved the original bilingual text of the plaque with a single modification," said Zoltán Fodor. "We wrote Béla Bacskai, and the Ministry approved it as follows: Vojtech Béla Bacskai. The painter's brother, Barnabás, did not agree to this, saying that his younger brother was never Vojtech." In front of the memorial plaque, Kinga Szabó, director of the Nógrád Gallery in Losonc, praised Béla Bacskai's work.
