Burial place of the Sisters of Mercy

Cemeteries, tombstones, graves

In 1880, the Léva nursery and girls' school, the convent school, was founded in Léva, where the Sisters of Mercy from Szatmár, named after Saint Vincent de Paul, carried out their educational work until 1945. In 1946, the Tesitel order moved into the former monastery of the Piarists, who renovated the St. Joseph's Church in a short time with the help of the faithful. But they could not operate in Léva for long, because on April 13-14, 1950, as part of the R-action (a nationwide party-state action launched to liquidate male and female religious orders), they were taken away from Léva together with the Sisters of Mercy from Szatmár and then interned.
