The Immaculata (Virgin Mary) statue

Sacral small monument

It was erected at the upper end of Fel-Baka by the parish priest Mihály Farkass at his own expense. Due to the lack of the Baka church chronicle, we no longer know a detailed account of the circumstances of its placement and consecration, but we can read interesting data from the documents found in the archives. Mihály Farkass laid the foundation for the Immaculate Virgin statue on February 25, 1878, which was approved by the church authorities on May 11, 1878 (the placement of the statue can also be dated to this period). The financial statement of the foundation established to preserve its condition can be found until 1943: at that time it had 34 pengős. The inscription on the statue refers to its creator and its place of operation: “Brandl Posony”. ; ; When Mihály Farkass established a foundation for the poor children of Baka, he requested in his founding document that prayers be offered for his soul and that of his deceased parents every Saturday of the year in front of the statue erected in honor of the Holy Virgin. Thanks to the grateful Baka believers, the village leadership, and the Baka parish priests, not only did the shelter operate until the first half of the 20th century, but the statue erected in honor of the Virgin Mary (i.e., the image of the Virgin Mary) can still be seen at the upper end of the village today.
