The new cemetery in Apátújfalus
Cemeteries, tombstones, graves
József Siket informant (1904). “... Family members were buried next to each other. This one didn’t go to the upper part, but to the lower part. Now they have started the third part.” ; … ; Most of the grave markers are made of stone (sandstone, artificial stone, black or white marble, granite), and there are also some wooden crosses with iron bodies. There are single or double grave markers, which can be of different shapes. However, all of them have a cross or a crucifix with a body. Most of the cross-shaped grave markers have a straight stem end, but many of the older ones have three-lobed or pointed stems. Several grave markers also have a photograph of the deceased. Some are complemented by a figure, such as a dove or an angel.
