The parish of Apátújfalus
Building, structure
The religious life of Apátújfalu gained even greater momentum in the mid-1920s, after the construction of the church. As Zoltán Pintér, the former priest of the village, wrote: “The inhabitants of the two poor settlements, Apáti and Újfalu, were mostly Catholics in the past, but there was no church in either place. Thus, even after Trianon, the faithful went to Leszenye for services.” Until 2007, it was a branch of Lukanénye, and then, from July 1, 2007, the Diocese of Bratislava-Nagyszombat established an independent parish here in the building that teacher Anna Szimon left to the church.
