The Holy Cross of Al-Baka
Sacral small monument
During the time of the local parish priest András Varju, in 1830, the faithful of Baka jointly erected a cross along the road at the end of Al-Baka. However, after three decades, in 1863, it collapsed, so during the years of the parish priest of Baka Mihály Farkass, it was replaced with the support of Mr. Pál Beleházi Bartal to the joy of the local Christian community. ; ; However, from the first year of the 20th century, the replacement of the cross became timely again. In 1902, for this very reason, the then parish priest Jákó Flock appealed to the faithful of Baka and the wealthy farmers to support this noble cause with their donations. As a result of his appeal, 39 crowns and 82 fillérs were collected from the collection organized among the faithful of Baka, while the esteemed Mr. Ferencz Bartal gave 5 crowns as a gift. This is how the collection began within the framework of the Al-bakai highway cross foundation approved on May 12, 1830. By 1905, they already had 64 crowns and 97 fillérs, from which the work could begin. The newly made holy cross was consecrated in 1907. ; ; Of course, they did not forget about it later either: from the account of the former parish priest of Baka, József Schill, we know that the faithful of Baka preserved and protected it with the help of the Al-bakai cross foundation and the noble common property of Baka.
