Graves of the victims of the 1931 gendarmerie shooting
Cemeteries, tombstones, graves
On May 25, 1931, at the height of the economic crisis, citizens and the authorities came face to face on Nemeskosút. The deployed gendarmes fired into the communists demonstrating without permission, as a result of which three Hungarian demonstrators - sugar factory workers from Diószeg - lost their lives. Their names were János Gyevát, István Turzó and Sándor Zsabka.
