Monument to the Battle of Losonc on March 24, 1849 (Honovéd Monument)

On March 24, 1877, on Kubinyi Square, next to the ref. church, in the presence of the widow of General Damjanich, the Home Guard monument was unveiled, in memory of the fact that on March 24, 1849, the Home Guard Major Lajos Beniczky's unit routed the outnumbered imperial army. The stone obelisk, standing on a natural stone pedestal and inscribed on all four sides, was decorated with cannonballs connected by chains. It was removed by the Czechoslovak authorities in 1945. Its fate is unknown. ; Before 1945, it was the site of commemorations on March 15. The Battle of Losonc is also commemorated when the Kármán monument, which has been in its place since 1993, is laid.
