The monument to the participants of the 1848-49 War of Independence in Füleki was ceremonially unveiled on October 6, 2008. The monument, erected by the Koháry Civic Association, was unveiled by Pál Csáky, the national president of the MKP. During the ceremony, the Felvidéki Cavalry Band stood guard. ; In addition to their own patriots, the people of Füleki also remembered the martyrs of the War of Independence in Bratislava and the martyrs of Arad. Vince Erdős, the initiator of the monument's erection, and Pál Csáky, the national president of the MKP, gave a ceremonial speech. The funds necessary for the erection of the monument were provided by the Koháry Civic Association partly through tenders (Illyés Public Foundation, Homeland Fund) and partly from public donations. ; László Estefán, the president of the Koháry Civic Association, thanked everyone who helped with the creation of the monument with their donation or participation. In his ceremonial speech, Pál Csáky emphasized that the condition for the survival of the Hungarian nation is that we accept and can accept our Hungarianness. The wreaths of respect and remembrance were placed by Pál Csáky on behalf of the MKP National Presidency, and Péter Csúsz on behalf of the MKP Losonc District Presidency, on the newly unveiled and consecrated monument by the Franciscan priest. The wreaths were laid at the monument by: the MKP Fülek Local Organization, the CSEMADOK Fülek Foundation, the Koháry Civic Association and the representatives of the Felvidéki Lovas Bandérium.
