Monument to the Heroes of World War I and II

Statue, monument, memorial plaque

In the garden of the Catholic church, there is a memorial cross originally erected in memory of the Catholic victims of the First World War, which was later supplemented with a list of those who fell in the Second World War. ; The full renovation of the World War I memorial took place in 2018 with the support of Bethlen Gábor Alapkezelő Zrt. The lower pedestal of the memorial received a completely new two-step concrete base measuring 2.6 x 2.6 m. On this concrete base, a new concrete base measuring 1.4 x 1.4 m and 1.3 m high was built, which is the main supporting element of the monument itself, which was covered with IMPALA - dark gray granite. The entire content of the original memorial plaque, including names and quotes, was engraved and painted in this part. Since the concrete cross on the original monument had completely disintegrated, a new solid granite cross was placed on the pedestal part. The restored version of the body of Christ made of aluminum on the cross was returned to its original place. The final completion of the monument included the insertion and placement of the final additional elements, such as a vase, rosettes and wreath holders. By restoring the statue of the heroes in this way, we wanted to keep the community and social memory of the First World War alive in our village, and thereby contribute to the strengthening of Hungarian and European identity based on common values, history and culture.
