Attila Park, Statue of Attila
Statue, monument, memorial plaque
The first public statue of King Attila the Hun in the Highlands was inaugurated on May 21, 2005. At the inauguration ceremony, teacher Tibor Gáspár, vice-president of the Rákóczi Association Ferencz Kun, and Ferenc Nick, president of the Village Culture Association, gave speeches. Nick Ferenc presented the first golden signet ring of the association (until August 20, 2015) to Géza Csicsói Nagy, the knight of culture. A historic speech was given by Deputy Prime Minister Pál Csáky, when the Slovak press and political elite effectively criticized him. ; The statue stands on private land – the mayor did not intend to grant permission – it was not necessary anyway. ; In June 2009, unknown persons doused the statue with flammable material and set it on fire. The work of art was only slightly damaged.
