Alsószel National Flag Monument (Millennium Monument)
Statue, monument, memorial plaque
After most of the Hungarian-populated areas annexed after World War I were returned to Hungary in 1938, and then entered World War II on the side of Germany, a law soon obliged the settlements to erect World War I monuments. Since national flag monuments were also strongly encouraged after the re-annexation, in many places these two were merged and national flag World War II monuments were erected. ; The Alsószel monument was erected in memory of the re-annexation of Alsószel by the villagers to Hungary. The monument, erected in one of the highest parts of the village, is surrounded by a metal fence. The brick-shaped monument stands on a two-story pedestal. On its lower part, a historical Hungarian coat of arms carved from light-colored stone with the Holy Crown, and above it the Turul bird, can be seen.
