The tomb of parish priest István Alár

In this (new/gentleman's) cemetery, the parish priest István Alár is buried. A silver-plated iron body hangs on the cross of his marble tombstone, and on the rectangular marble tablet we can read: "Here awaits the day of resurrection, Parish priest István Alár (1911-1974). Below his portrait is this scripture quote: "Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends" (Jn.15./13.) ; ... ; Parish priest István Alár, along with the cantor-teacher Béla Borsodi, played a major role in the education of Hungarian schoolchildren, and every year at Christmas and Easter they prepared a literary stage for the joy of the village population in the cultural center converted from the former Popellár mansion.
