Mária Jókai's old dream came true, the Ahai Country House opened on January 12, 2017. ; László Bukovszky, Government Commissioner for Minorities, Tibor Verebély, Mayor of Tóth, and the initiator Mária Jókai cut the ribbon, primarily thanks to them that the ethnographic collection collected and accumulated over many years has found its worthy place. ; The Ahai Men's Singing Group, which was formed in 2015 for the 750th anniversary of Aha, set the tone for the festive atmosphere, then one of the young traditionalist girls in Aha folk costume performed the folk song Kis kút kerekes kút… on the flute. ; First, Tibor Verebély, Mayor of Tóth, praised Mária Jókai's perseverance, who had been on their tails until she managed to acquire the old farmhouse that was destined for demolition. Government Commissioner for Minorities László Bukovszky also spoke appreciatively of Mária Jókai's persistent work in nurturing traditions, and referring to the singers, he warned about preserving traditions and preserving the language. ; Mária Jókai thanked László Bukovszky and Tibor Tóth for their help, and mentioned many other people without whose dedicated work the regional house would not have been possible. ; Before the ribbon cutting, the Ahai Women's Singing Group sang, followed by a presentation of an old tradition, the guests each cut a slice of the host's bread, only then did they cross the threshold of the house. Upon entering, the host Mária Jókai guided the guests through the individual rooms of the house, presenting the treasured collection, the legacy of the Ahai ancestors. At the reception, László Bukovszky greeted Mária Jókai with a bouquet of flowers on the occasion of her upcoming birthday. ; “If I were rich, I would buy a country house”, ten years earlier, in Új Szó, a conversation with Mária Jókai was published under this title.
