The grave of teacher Béla Agócs

Cemeteries, tombstones, graves

Béla Agócs (1962-2001) taught in Nádszeg. He successfully led choirs in Bratislava and Vásárút. As a teacher, he opposed the Mečiar government, which abolished bilingual certificates, and lost his job. After the change of government in 1998, he also sued Béla Bugár. Tired of the struggle, he ended his life by suicide in 2001. The tragically deceased teacher was laid to rest in his birthplace, Baraca (Rimaszombat district). His headstone was donated by the municipality of Bratislava in 2002, which was erected on the first anniversary of his death. The former choirmaster was remembered by old fellow singers, colleagues, and representatives of local civil organizations. The event was organized by Béla Agócs' brothers and friends with the choirs of Nádszeg, Vásárút and Bratislava, with the support of the Csemadok organizations and the Bratislava Municipality Office, as well as the SOS - Pedagogy Fund. ; His credo: I wanted to help and serve: according to my strength and knowledge.
