The scholarly coachman drives dead horses

An interesting twist is that after his owner no longer requires the services of the learned coachman, he takes the reins off the horses that had otherwise been dead for three years, and they become “koliimász” (cart grease). This makes the motive of the dismissal or forced re-employment of the learned coachman much more general.
