The chapel of Tejfalus

Building, structure

On August 15, 1913, on the day of the Assumption, the parish priest of Somorja, Lajos Simon, consecrated the newly built local chapel. ; Until the turn of the twentieth century, Tejfalu did not have its own church building, only a bell hanging on a belfry, which called the faithful to prayer, bid farewell to the deceased on their last journey, signaled danger and announced holidays. In 1910, the village population first had the opportunity to build a chapel on their own. In the conditions of the time, it was not a small amount at all, since at that time there was almost no money in the hands of the population, practically everyone lived on the goods they produced. Therefore, it was not easy to raise the huge amount for the construction of the chapel. In order to start the construction, the financial contribution of the public domain, the cooperation of the population and generous donors were needed. Fortunately, all three conditions were met in Tejfalu. Thanks to this, the necessary amount was collected in a relatively short time, so in the spring of 1913, the village authorities commissioned the Somorja architect Imre Németh to prepare the plans and carry out the construction work. It took only a few months to build the chapel, which became the pride of the village. ; The Somorja parish office serves four masses in the chapel every year: in May, June (21st), August and October. ; 1913
