The Cross of Louis the Beautiful or “Apponyi-tagi Circle”

A roadside cross was erected in 1936 in memory of the parish priest Lajos Szép. ; In 1916, the parish priest Lajos Szép of Csallóközkürt (1901–1927) established a credit cooperative in the village, and in 1916, for his exemplary farming, he received the cross of the Order of Franz Joseph. In 1922, the land plots of the former Apponyi member were thus purchased by local farmers, with the help of Lajos Szép. With the cross, these farmers paid their respects to the parish priest who had done so much for the village.
