The common grave of ancestors brought from the old Reformed cemetery
Cemeteries, tombstones, graves
The old Reformed cemetery was located in today's Kossuth Square, which was closed permanently after the plague of 1711. The Reformed population established a new cemetery in the hilly area beyond the city ramparts at that time. Until 1975, it was separated from the Catholic cemetery by Temető Street, which was removed to form the city cemetery. Its northern edge was eliminated when Pozsonyi Street was widened to four lanes, and its fence was also built at that time. ; During the expansion of the fortress line in the 19th century and during the construction of the market hall in 1993, many skeletal remains were excavated in the area, which were placed in a common grave in the Reformed cemetery.
