The Holy Trinity Church in Nagyaabony
Building, structure
In 1761, the royal councilor Csiba Imre Nagyabonyi had the Catholic church of the settlement dedicated to the Holy Trinity built at his own expense. The settlement's filia became Hodos. In 1790, the church was robbed, after which the church authorities demolished the strong stone fence surrounding the church, so that it would not "serve as a refuge for people with evil intentions". Shortly thereafter, burials around the church ceased. In 1811, parish priest János Szlusny left the parish due to extreme hunger and poverty, after which the Catholics of the settlement promised in writing to provide the new parish priest with basic provisions. In 1845, the building was restored and the parish was expanded. In 1890, parish priest Gy. Krizán Hajózy (Franciscan) had the altar that can still be seen today built at his own expense.
