The parish of Lukanénye

Building, structure

According to the decree of Saint Stephen, a church had to be built for every 10 settlements in a central and visible place. Based on this decree, the first Nénye church was built, and the parish “villa Eghasasfolu” was formed. /… / But those villages and parishes that were among the first to be established remained under the jurisdiction of the Esztergom archdiocese. This is also proven by the fact that the landowners named Nénye (1243), Csehy (1340), Nénye (1332), Nyenye (1350), Nyénye (1386), Kenderesi (1458), Keszy (1408), Kóváry, Pándy (1462) were citizens of Esztergom. ; In the papal tithe register, which dates from 1376, the priest of Nénye is also mentioned, which means that the parish of the village was among the richest. /... / ; The first church, which was in the area of the “house cemetery”, was completely destroyed during the Tatar invasion. Therefore, for a long time the village had a wooden church in the area of today’s parish, the existence of which is mentioned in more detail in the village publication published in 1996. (2000,47-48.) ; In both the 1842 and 1941 Schematizmuses, we can only read that the parish of Nénye is very old, and has civil registers from the end of the 17th century and the beginning of the 18th century. The 1855 monograph of Imre Palugyay Jr. also notes the “parish house” of Házasnénye. ; In the Historia Domus kept by the parish priest Károly Buday, several pieces of information about the parish building also appear. In one place it is written that the old parish building existed between 1712 and 1968. In another place it is written that that the building with a long history was “the former headquarters of the Nénye parish” from 1699 to 1969. Its ruins were permanently removed on May 16, 1973. The chronicle also contains two pictures that immortalize the old building. Its last resident, Károly Buday, also stood on its board-covered porch. ; According to the 1766 visitation (Lib. 108), the construction of the parish began three years ago. ...” ; /... / The new parish that still stands today was completed on December 15, 1969, and was built at a cost of 186,710 crowns. By the end of 1971, most of the parish’s 14-hectare plot was expropriated, leaving only 36 hectares. The parish was later expanded by adding a section suitable for lectures and spiritual activities. ; (2014,20-21.)
