NEW memorial plaque for the heroic dead of the Losonc high school

In 1940, as part of the 350th anniversary celebrations of the Losonc high school, the memory of the heroic dead of the high school - 2 teachers and 52 students - was immortalized. The 240x120 cm memorial plaque made of white Carrara marble was removed from the wall of the school building by the Czechoslovak authorities in 1945. It was placed in the garden of the Reformed church, where it broke into pieces during the renovation in 1978. In 2014, on the occasion of the centenary of the First World War, a reduced, 120x80 cm copy of the original plaque was made of plastic. The ceremonial inauguration on June 26 was attended by the local pastor, the school principal, members of the local and regional council of the Csemads, as well as interested people from Losonc and the surrounding area. Later, the mayor of Losonc also laid a wreath at the memorial plaque.
