Statue of the Funeral Oration (Anonymous)

Statue, monument, memorial plaque

Sándor Kiss's work titled Anonymus was unveiled on July 8, 2005, on the occasion of the 760th anniversary of the first written mention of the village at the village day ceremony. The metal-covered statue depicts the endless text of the Funeral Oration and Supplication and the royal throne. ; Sándor Kiss - the creator of the statue - was born in Hidaskürt in 1932, studied at the Bratislava School of Fine Arts, and then graduated from the Faculty of Fine Arts in the field of monumental sculpture. His large-scale works can be found in public spaces and buildings in Aranyosmarót, Nyitra, Simony, and also in Hidaskürt, in the park near the village hall, clearly visible from the highway. ; The artist – who has been living in Nitra for a long time and is a teacher at the local art school – himself attended the unveiling of his work, but he refused to explain its meaning. He believes that everyone should see for themselves what it symbolizes in the work. The sculpture, covered in metal sheeting, depicts the endless text of the Funeral Oration and Plea and the royal throne.
