It was erected by the Slovak Reformed Christian Church to commemorate the 2000th anniversary of the birth of Christ, the 1000th anniversary of constitutional Hungarian Christianity, and the 325th anniversary of the liberation of the Galley Arab preachers. The statue was created by János Nagy.
