The Jewish cemetery in Cicsó
Memorial site
The Jewish cemetery is located in the southwest corner of the public cemetery. This part was unfortunately neglected for a long time after World War II. The more valuable tombstones disappeared, and the vegetation in the area became wild. In the 1980s, a resident of Csíssó, Vince Cseh (1930–1999), privately cleaned up the Jewish cemetery section.
;
The Jewish tombstones with Hebrew inscriptions have an olive tree or palm branch carved on them.
;
The last picture shows: the pebbles of remembrance were placed on the tombstones. The living person receives the flowers, the dead person is given a dead thing by the Jewish people.
; (Someone put artificial flowers, which is also a dead thing.)

In Csicsó, most residents walk among the Jewish tombstones and see fallen, moss-covered stone remains. Most people have probably never gone to ; any tombstone to take a closer look at it or read the writings on the ; tombstones. Yet Hebrew inscriptions are also visible on the ; tombstones.
; These tombstones are part of our village's history. We would have a duty ; not only to care for the remaining tombstones (since each piece has its own story), but also to learn about the personal connection of the owners of these tombstones to our village.
The Jewish community in Csicsó has been present for many generations, making a valuable contribution to the local culture and economy. Today, signs of a once thriving Jewish community only remain in the cemetery, reminding us of the importance of appreciating and preserving our heritage and history.
Surprisingly, many locals are unaware of these historic tombstones. Many of them have never even thought to stop and read the inscriptions on the tombstones. Many people don't even know that the olive tree and palm branch on the tombstones are symbols of peace and victory in the Jewish tradition.
That is why, as members of the "Csicsói Elves" team, the students of the Csicsói Gáspár Sámuel Elementary School and Kindergarten, we participate with great pride and commitment in the restoration of the Jewish cemetery. We are convinced that caring for the tombstones and reading the inscriptions on the tombstones helps us to learn about and appreciate the Jewish traditions and history, which are an integral part of our community.
The care and preservation of the Jewish cemetery is not only an expression of respect for our past, but also our commitment to tolerance, understanding and community cohesion. Together, we perpetuate the memory of the Jewish community and pass on the values they represented.
