The tomb and mausoleum of the Benyovszkyaks
Building, structure
The Benyovszky family had two tombs - mausoleums - in the village. The first one was in the old cemetery, which was, however, liquidated a long time ago. This was the old burial place of the Benyovszky family, which was built in the first half of the 19th century. It was a square-based, classicist-style building decorated with four tympanums and a dome. The interior of the mausoleum was tastefully decorated, with stucco, wall strips and the dome crowned with cornices. The building was demolished in 1994, and its materials were used for other construction. Nagylég thus lost one of its significant monuments. ; A new cemetery was opened in the northern part of the village, and at the turn of the century the Benyovszky family had a new mausoleum built. It is an Art Nouveau-style building with a square base and a simple facade. This building no longer created such an artistic impression as the previous one, it is of a more modest design.
