Monument to the Heroes of Nagymegyer in World War II

After 1991, the family members of the heroes of World War II in Nagymegyer initiated the city to erect a monument to their former family members on Heroes' Square, similar to the monument erected in 1938 to the heroes of World War I. The civil initiative, which lasted several years, was successful. In 2002, the Nagymegyer City Government approved the initiative. Private entrepreneur Sándor Ács was commissioned to implement the idea. Thus, in addition to the World War I monument, another monument was created, in its shape, surrounded by a common iron fence. The ceremonial handover of the monument took place on November 2, 2002, when László Varga's book: Peace to Dust, about the heroes of World War I and II in Nagymegyer, was published. The granite column of the monument is six meters high and 115 names can be read on it.
