1965 Danube Division Memorial Site

On June 17, 1965, at 10 a.m., 500 meters from Kulcsod, near the Ladocsi ramp, the Danube burst its embankment. The rushing water reached the village of Kulcsod 25 minutes later. In its lower parts, it destroyed family homes, farm buildings and crops waiting to be harvested. ; At the site of the 1965 dam breach, at the Ladocsi ramp, between Csicsó and Kulcsod. ; The first and second monuments were handed over on the 30th anniversary of the dam breach. A stone tablet and a smaller stone with Slovak and Hungarian inscriptions. The third was handed over on the 40th anniversary of the dam breach. Carved by Géza Nagy. A headstone in the shape of a boat decorated with ancient Hungarian floral motifs with the inscription: "THOUGH THE GALLEY IS ABOVE, AND THE VALLEY OF THE WATER IS BELOW, THEN THE WATER IS THE LORD! PETŐFI S. THE SEA HAS RESURRECTED – CICSÓ KULCSOD LAK MEDVE FÜSS RADVÁNY KOLOZSNÉMA – CARVED BY GÉZA NAGY". On it is a plaque with the inscription: "Erected by the Csallóköz, Csilizköz and Csicsó public benefit society for its traditions and culture" and the emblem of the society. Below at the base is another stone plaque with an English inscription, which means: In memory of the 1965 dam break.
